A 29 year-old unemployed man has been arrested and detained for robbery and possession of a substance suspected to be Indian hemp.

Abass Awudu was arrested at Aputuogya in the Ashanti region the same day he allegedly robbed two students of the Jacobu Senior High and Akrofrom Senior High Schools.

Freda Yeboah a 17 year-old student of Jacobu SHS and Perseverance Otu; a student of Akrofrom SHS (also 17 years old) who live at Feyiase but attend vacation classes at Aputuogya say they were robbed of their school bags containing GHC130 and GHC100 Cedis respectively and various textbooks.

They say they were eating behind a house when Abass Awudu and two others pounced on them and made away with their belongings.

The suspect was later arrested at Aputuogya the same day. The Police retrieved a polythene bag containing fifty-three (53) wraps of a plant substance suspected to be Indian hemp.

The victims have identified him as their assailant.

The suspect is however yet to lead the police to arrest his accomplices and retrieve the stolen items.
