The situation is tense Monday morning in Berekum as angry members of the public attacked power distributor Volta River Authority(VRA) over persistent power outages.

Hundreds of residents in the Brong Ahafo Region town had massed up at a local police post to show their dissatisfaction with the company’s services.

According to residents, the whole municipality has been experiencing power outage for days and nothing much has been done by the distributor. Business owners also say the situation is affecting their daily sales.

“We know anything can happen but they need to inform us or give us timelines so we can plan accordingly. They have however left us in the dark for three days without power. They keep switching on and off too. We want to know what problem there is”  an angry youth told our correspondent.

Another business man said, “it is so sickening that we are not even notified they take our lights and nobody seems to care about the consequences, government must act now”.

Meanwhile, attempts to speak to authorities at the Volta River Authority (VRA) for clarity have yielded no results.
