Painstaking investigations conducted by the Ghanaian Observer(GO) Newspaper indicates that Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, one of Ghana’s finest medical practitioners is not a member of a mining group by name Symphony Limited.
This latest information, is contrary to false and malicious reports nailing the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation to the aforementioned entity.
The spurious claims that Prof. Frimpong Boateng by his association to the named company has committed serious financial loss as well as conflict of interest is false, our checks reveal.
The symphony group, per GO’s investigation has been mining gold and carrying its activities in Japekrom after getting prospecting license from the Minerals Commission.
DETAILS:
The company, our investigations reveal stopped prospecting a few years back and has been mining gold in Japekrom and Drobo traditional areas up until now.
A management member of the company told GO that Symphony is doing legitimate business in the Brong Ahafo region.
He dispelled rumors that Prof. Frimpong Boateng was a member of the company’s management.
According to the member who wants to remain anonymous, the Minister has had no dealings with them since they started mining for gold in the region.
APPEAL:
In a text in response to our letter to have him speak on the matter after our investigations, Prof. Boateng said he was focused on his job.
He intimated his resolve to bring sanity to the way mining is conducted in the country.
He noted the lifting of the ban on small scale mining does not mean the ministry will allow for illegal activities to go on.
The Ministry, he stressed is committed to monitoring, regulating and policing the activities of all small scale mining companies to ensure the right technology and measures are adopted.
