The Ashanti Regional Organizer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Francis Adomako has described the recently held limited registration exercise by the Electoral Commission (EC) as largely peaceful and smooth.

He said but for the initial bloody and violent challenges occurring at isolated areas in Kumasi the exercise would have passed off as smooth process.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper on Tuesday Morning, Mr Adomako said he was happy about the outcome of the process, adding the NPP played its mandated role very well.

According to him, the party through its Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCES) as well party executives, Members of Parliament (MPS), national officers and Chief Executives of state managed outfits helped in disseminating information about the exercise.

‘’I am happy to note that we in Ashanti Region had a smooth exercise despite the initial violent actions which were perpetrated largely by elements of the opposition NDC. Nonetheless my tour of the over 41 constituencies showed people registering massively so as to get the opportunity to vote in the upcoming district level election and the proposed referendum on the election of MMDCES’’, Mr. Adomako posited.

EXTENSION:

But contrary to speculations from some quarters that some of the political parties want an extension of the registration process, the NPP regional organizer said the NPP in Ashanti was satisfied with the volume of the turnout.

He mentioned that those who really wanted to register during the exercise made themselves available to go through the process.

Mr Adomako however disclosed that some people in the Asawasi constituency were dealt a bad blow since information for them to still get their numbers to the EC officials to be able to finish their registration on Monday even though Sunday was the last day did not get such information on time.

Numbering over 500, Mr Adomako said all these people would have to make their selves available next year to be able to get onto the national register so they could exercise their franchise on December 7th, 2020.

‘’The sad ending to the somewhat smooth registration process was the inability of about 500 people in Asawasi to register since information for them to do so and get themselves ready for an extension on Monday got to them late’’, the regional organizer explained.

POSTIVE RESULTS:

Sounding confident, Mr Adomako said with the exception of the district level elections and the upcoming referendum which is devoid of partisan stance the NPP would record higher numbers in the 2020 general elections.

The workaholic lecturer intimated that the performance of the Akufo-Addo government which is just two and half years in power had done enough to get a second-term mandate from Ghanaians.

According to him, one by one the Akufo Addo government is fulfilling all the policies it promised during the 2016 electioneering campaign.

‘’I call on Ghanaians to support the government as it rolls out employment creation policies to enable the youth and others contribute to the development of the country’’, the passionate lecturer appealed.
