Ghana News–MTN Ghana, has given the National blood bank 9,475 pints of blood within 8 years.

The biggest Telco on Valentine’s day held another blood donation exercise across the country in her effort to stock various blood banks countrywide.

In the Ashanti region, the donation was a collaboration with the Komfo Anokye Transfusion Unit.

A total of 318 students of the Bantama SDA Senior High School and the University Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) took turns donating blood after they had been screened.

The students who were under close supervision of their tutors expressed excitement at the opportunity and the experience of donating blood to save lives.

Head of the Transfusion Medicine Unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) who was excited at the gesture of the students and praised MTN greatly for the initiative.

Dr. Shirley Owusu-Ofori explained that her outfit receives several emergencies that require blood transfusions on a daily basis and the constant availability of blood saves a lot of lives.

Acting General Manager for MTN’s Northern Business District; Mr Peter Bimpeh, explained that issues bordering on the health of the country are of great importance to his outfit.

He explains to ghanagong.com that the blood donation excercise goes beyond Corporate Social Responsibility as far as MTN is concerned. He promised MTN’s continued commitment to issues of health and wellness of Ghanaians.
