19 others who sustained various degrees of injuries are receiving treatment at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital in the Brong Ahafo Region.
This comes barely 24 hours after 23 persons were hospitalised after a similar incident happened at Gomoa-Buduatta in the Central Region.
The Wenchi Municipal MTTD Commander ASP Oduro Amponsah who confirmed the incident to our correspondent said the driver of the Urvan minibus with registration number AW 251-17 is yet to be traced.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the driver of the vehicle was on his way from Wa in the Upper West Region with 22 persons on-board. On reaching Abotareye, a town near Wenchi, he lost control of the vehicle after it run through some of the potholes that are dangerously scattered on the road. The vehicle veered off the road and landed into the bush. From my point of view I think he[the driver] was over-speeding. We are yet to get hold of him for interrogation”, ASP Oduro narrated.
Meanwhile, the mangled vehicle has since been towed to the Wenchi police station as part of police investigations.
ASP Oduro however, cautioned drivers who use the stretch to drive with care adding that the police would intensify patrols to have recalcitrant drivers checked.
