President of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, has sworn into office Ghana’s Permanent Ambassador to the European Union. The Appointee, Mrs. Harriet Sena Siaw Boateng, will also serve as Ghana’s Ambassador to Belgium. Additionally, the President also swore into office the country’s new Ambassador to Norway, Mrs. Jennifer Lartey at the same ceremony.

In his address after administering three oaths to the Appointees, the oath of Secrecy, oath of Allegiance, and the oath of office, President Akufo Addo said he can personal attest to the competence of the two new appointees because he had the opportunity to work with both ofthem when he was the Foreign Minister in former President John Kufour’s Administration.

The President urged the two envoys to ensure that they represent the interest of the country at all material times in the countries where they are to serve.

“You are the most visible symbol of our country out there and in all your actions you must guard jealously our country’s image, and I am confident that this is a charge that both of you will uphold” the President said.

In a response on behalf of herself and her colleague, Mrs. Harriet Sena Siaw Boateng, said that they are aware of the tireless commitment of the President to bring prosperity to Ghana. She assured the President that they will work with a deep sense of commitment and humility in order to support the efforts of the President aimed at transforming Ghana from a raw material producing country into an industrialised one.

“We will work as your Ambassadors with all sectors of the economy both public and private towards fulfilling the aims and objectives of the Government and of your vision of a “Ghana Beyond Aid” Mrs. Siaw Boateng said.
