Police at Agogo in the Ashanti Region have launched a serious manhunt for seven members of an armed gang who rained terror on town folks at Aberewanko, a community near Agogo.

Two persons have been wounded after the gun wielding men stormed the community at Agogo Wednesday afternoon.

Ghanagong.com‘s Nana Yaw Ofori reports that the armed gang members numbering about seven suddenly appeared in the village from the woods and started shooting indiscriminately at the town folks, who are mainly farmers.

A team of heavily armed police and military contingent from ‘Operation Cowleg’ was immediately dispatched to the community to assess the situation after the District Chief Executive for the area, Francis Oti Boateng conveyed a meeting with security chiefs in the area.

Five huts had been burnt to ashes whiles two motor bikes have been made away by the rampaging weapon holding gang when the team visited the scene.

Police also retrieved nine empty shells of spent ammunition at the crime scene.

Currently, the injured are receiving treatment at Agogo Presbyterian Hospital.
