MTN’s Ayigya office donates to King Jesus Charity home, Boadi

The Ayigya office of MTN-Ghana Friday made a donation to the King Jesus Charity Home at Boadi in Kumasi.

The workers of that particular MTN office chose to forego their Christmas party in order to fete for Children of the orphanage.

The officers of MTN who were visibly touched by the stories of some of the children presented bags of rice, several bags of cement as well as bags of charcoal to support ongoing construction works as well as the nourishment of the children at the home.

Founder and Director of the King Jesus Charity Home; Apostle Kofi Owusu Afriyie expressed gratitude to MTN-Ghana for the kind gesture. He recounted how the home has gone through thick and thin since 1995 to support over three hundred and fifty young people till date.

He revealed that the facility currently housed and supports eighty-four (84) children in every facet of their lives; a feat that he hints requires significant resources to sustain. He called on philanthropists and various organizations to emulate MTN’s gesture and support the orphanage.

He says there are also about 56 kids in the Senior High Schools and 12 in the various Universities whilst thirteen have completed the university level. Others have completed the Polytechnics, nursing training institutions while others are learning trades including fitting, dressmaking and decorations.

“We’ve supported some who are now working, some are married too” he reported proudly.

He insisted that the children receive the best of treatment and training from the home.

In a similar vein, the Abuakwa branch of MTN-Ghana visited and made donations to the Ashan Children’s home and also spent time with the kids.

The staff of the telecommunications giant donated bags of rice, cooking oil, tomato paste, Indomie noodles, Soft drinks as well as key bar soap.

CEO of the orphanage; Mr. Jim Konadu explained that the orphanage has operated for some seventeen (17) years now and has seen some 14 orphans through university.

There are currently fifty-five (55) children in the house with thirty-four(34) being female and twenty-one (21) being male.
