The Urban Roads Department, acting on behalf of the Government of Ghana last weekend started the disbursement of compensation packages for traders along the Asokwa-Atonsu-Agogo-Dompaose routes in the Asokwa Municipality.

The package which is being paid in batches is expected to be completed by this weekend if everything goes according to plan.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper, Chief Executive for Asokwa Municipal Assembly, Mr Akwannuasa Gyimah said every trader who was captured in the list of the Urban Roads will receive his or her compensation.

The names, he noted had been compiled and collated as far back as August 2017 and everyone who is on it will receive what he or she is due to have.

‘’My brother, the Asokwa Municipal Assembly is committed to ensuring every trader or seller who was captured is given his or her due before work commences in the Municipality’’, Mr Gyimah noted.

PRESIDING MEMBER:

Speaking to this reporter, Elliot Ofosu Barnor, Presiding Member of the Asokwa Municipal Assembly noted his happiness about the mode of payment.

According to him, those whose data are on the list of the Urban Roads were being catered for first before any other.

This, he noted will make things easier for the disbursement process to be hastened so as to allow work to begin on the Asokwa roads.

The Assembly, the PM noted will also look into the complaints of any trader in Asokwa about the disbursement and resolve same.

TRADERS:

Speaking to some of the women who came to the Assembly to seek for clarification, they expressed delight at the responses given to them by the coordinating director, Mr Charles Oteng.

Ama Bonsu, a trader at the Unity Oil filling station said some of her colleagues had received theirs so she feared hers may not come.

Adwoa Brobbey, another trader at Ahensan bonsoum said she was to vacate her place by Friday but had not received her due so was worried.
