Aspiring President John Mahama

Omanhene of Adeiso, Osabarima Asare Oduro II, has endorsed the candidature of former President John Dramani Mahama to lead the main opposition National Democratic Congress party in the 2020 presidential election.

The Chief gave the endorsement Thursday, January 18,  when the former President paid a courtesy call on him as part of his five day campaign tour of the Eastern region.

Osabarima Asare Oduro observed that the former President is the best candidate to lead the NDC needs another term of office to complete all developmental projects at Adeiso that has been undertaken during his tenure.

“Many people can tell you I will take you to the destination but the best person is the one who has been there and knows the place so you don’t get lost” he told the gathering as he made an analogy.

Former President Mahama also thanked the chiefs and people of Adeiso for their good counsel and support, adding that all suspended projects in Adeiso township will be completed when he is elected president.

He also urged delegates to vote massively for him ahead of the primaries.

John Dramani Mahama is a Ghanaian politician who served as President of Ghana from 24 July 2012 to 7 January 2017. He previously served as Vice President of Ghana from 2009 to 2012, and took office as President on 24 July 2012 following the death of his predecessor, John Atta Mills. Mahama is a communication expert, historian, and writer. He was a Member of Parliament from 1997 to 2009 and Minister of Communications from 1998 to 2001. He is a member of the National Democratic Congress.

He was elected to serve a full term as President in the December 2012 election. He contested re-election for a second term in the 2016 election, but was defeated in the first round by New Patriotic Party candidate Nana Akufo-Addo, whom he had defeated four years prior. This makes him the first president in the history of Ghana to not have won a second term.

He is currently on a campaign tour seeking re-election to become President Ghana again.
