Elder Enoch Ofori

The Leader of Seventh Day Pentecostal Assemblies, Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr. has called on Ghanaians to support President Akufo-Addo’s vision of ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ to succeed so that Western countries would not have the chance to attach such strings which come with Aid.

Elder Ofori who was addressing the Annual Camp Meeting of the Association of Seventh Day Pentecostal Assemblies at the Kumasi Senior High School Assembly Hall recently emphasized that there are lots of problems such as lack of potable drinking water, hospital beds, schools under trees and the like facing the country which need urgent public discourse rather than preoccupying ourselves with issues that relate to homosexuality, same-sex marriage and bestiality.

He said the old pagan ways of the white race which included homosexuality are being brought back to Africa in modern days under the guise of human rights with attractive and sanitized names.

Elder Enoch Ofori explained that there is nothing new under the sun and stressed that “our generation is heading towards an era when living righteously would become a crime” and thus make preaching against such evil practices difficult.

The church leader insisted that “this is an agenda the West has set in motion with warnings and threats to Third World countries to fall in line or be penalized with aid cuts”.

He cited Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London in April 2018 as one of such high-level international forum where leaders of Western nations have pressed leaders of developing countries especially those from Africa to decriminalize same-sex relations in their supposed sovereign home countries in return for continued aid and other forms of donor support.

Preaching on the theme “Back to the Biblical ancient paths – Jesus the same yesterday, today and forever”, the keen Bible scholar said the fear of God, humility and chastity which are all virtues in the Holy Scriptures are also part of the African culture.

Elder Ofori cautioned Ghanaians “not to make the mistake of assuming that the West is promoting universal values” but rather pursuing their own parochial neo-pagan values which they sought to universalize.

He said the pretty new terms such as bisexual, homoerotic, child molestation and pedophilia (sexual relations with a child) are just attractive ways of describing the old sexual habits and vices typical of Gentile Europeans at the time the gospel got to Europe.

The eloquent preacher and writer supporting his claims with facts and figures indicated that out of the total African population of 1.3 billion people, 631 million representing 49 percent are Christians which now makes Africa the region with the highest Christian population in the world.

Elder Ofori has therefore called on the youth, religious leaders, traditional rulers, civil society organizations and all well meaning Ghanaians to stand their ground against these practices as Africans and insist on their own cultural values most of which are  “aligned with the scriptures of truth”.
