Novo nordisk Haemophilia foundation; an NGO has donated ultramodern machines to help medical practitioners diagnose haemophilia in Ghana.

The equipment is the third in Ghana but the first in a government hospital.

With the newly donated equipment, diagnosis will be immediate and accurate.

President of the Ghana Haemophilia Society; Mr. Martin Boakye revealed that his outfit has registered only 300 haemophiliacs in Ghana. He believes there are many more who have not been registered and are sitting home with the condition.

The society has been sensitizing Ghanaians about the disease.

Haemophilia is an inherited bleeding disorder where the blood doesn’t clot properly.

Mr. Boakye re-echoed the fact that there is free treatment for Haemophilia in Ghana.

Haemophilia is a type of disease which prevents the flow of blood from stopping when there is a cut on the part of body.

President of the Society Mr. Martin Boakye says many people are not aware of the disease in Ghana. He says only 300 patients are listed in their books in Ghana with the rest staying home unrecorded.

He says it is important for people with the condition to know that there is free treatment for haemophilia.
