Meet AJ; the fitness queen of Ashanti
Although fitness has become quite a fad in Ghana with a lot of young people trooping to the gym, few ladies remain committed to fitness enough to take it up as a profession.
Comfort Adwoa Nyan known popularly in fitness circles as AJ however is making a name for herself as a fitness queen, especially within the Ashanti region of Ghana.
At seventeen years of age, she started training at the Mojo1 fitness Centre at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Although she was not given a dog’s chance, she preserved and outworked all her female contemporaries and eventually rose to become one of the fitness instructors at the gym and the only female instructor at that.
She has since worked with a number of gyms and groups of fitness enthusiasts. She serves as a personal trainer to a number of corporate or prominent personalities within the Ashanti region of Ghana.
She was one of four ladies drawn from all sixteen regions of Ghana to participate in a five-day certification programme for fitness instructors held at the National Sports College, Winneba by the National Sports for All Association – Ghana (NASFAAG). In all, twenty-four fitness instructors participated in the programme. Her excellent performance at that event also endeared her to many of the facilitators of the programme as well as her colleagues.
She is a down to earth, disciplined and well educated young lady who intends to become a household name in Ghana’s fitness and wellness arena in order to contribute towards the health and wellness goals of Ghanaians particularly.
