Ghana News-The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has indicated its determination of completing the Asokore Mampong affordable housing project in December this year.

Speaking to the media after an interactive session with contractors, stakeholders and workers on site,  Mr John Tinkorang, Chief Executive Officer of SSNIT said barring any unforeseen circumstances the 75 contractors will deliver the over 5, 000 units of houses in the enclave.

According to him, most of the buildings are over 75% complete as other ancillary facilities are being worked on to put the facility in shape.

The CEO urged interested persons, groups and organizations to forward their application letters to the SSNIT offices in Kumasi and start the process of securing a place to live in the enclave.

‘’We are happy to inform you that barring any unforeseen circumstances the contractors will deliver this project to us in December so that all who may have processed their documents would have opportunity to own places here’’, Mr Tinkorang noted.

BOARD CHAIR:

Expressing profuse happiness about the extent of the project, Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor, Board Chairman for SSNIT commended the contractors for carrying out a good job.

According to him, the affordable housing project holds the key of helping the populace get opportunity own houses or decent places to live in.

Many workers, Dr Addo Kufuor mentioned would have opportunity to own some units to house their children having worked their entire lives.

He asked contractors who may have some difficulties in accessing their certificates of payments to channel their grievances to the Project Manager so they can be addressed for a smooth process.

‘’I am happy seeing the kind of work that has gone on here and I believe the completion of this project will help people to get places to lay their heads’’, the Board Chair posited.

DETAILS:

Giving details of the project to the media, Kobina Banning , Site Manager of the Project said the houses consists of 91 blocks of 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom flats with complementary infrastructure and community facilities.

These facilities, Mr Banning noted include facilities management block, tarred internal road network with drains and paved walkways, paved car parks, central sewerage treatment plant, water storage and distribution network for uninterrupted water supply, external power supply and street lighting, fence wall and guard house, Police station and community shops.

The project construction, the Site Manager mentioned has been undertaken by 75 contractors with 16 sub-contractors and 8 infrastructure contractors.

Currently, the project is 75% complete and expected to be completed in September and December 2018.

SSNIT, he disclosed has partnered some reputable banks that will provide mortgage loans to interested purchasers.

Institutional purchasers such as banks, schools, universities, colleges, trade associations and individuals may purchase whole or sections of blocks of flats for its staff or members.
