Police is investigating Armed men in Police uniforms wearing masks.

The Ghana Bar Association(GBA) has condemned strongly the violence that was exhibited by some masked men during the recently held Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

A press statement the Association released said “The GBA views the use of firearms and acts of violence in a constituency where a by-election was being held as a serious blight on Ghana’s hard-won democratic credentials and a threat to the rule of law and our democracy”.

The called on the security and law enforcement agencies to as a matter of urgency, thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure the perpetrators of the “shameful and appalling” act are arrested, duly charged and prosecuted.

The Association also called for wholistic training for all security personnel who would be deployed in future elections to reassure the general populace of their safety.

The statement signed by the National President of the Ghana Bar Association; Anthony Forson and the National Secretary of the GBA; Yaw Acheampong Boafo, called for justice for the assaulted victims and urged political leaders to be very circumspect in their utterances on the matter.

The Ayawaso West Wuogon election turned out to be fraught with pockets of violence as armed masked men who were also heavily built stormed some of the polling stations.

Police say they are investigating the issue of masked men who assaulted the Ningo-Prampram MP during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, Thursday.

The men, dressed in black polo shirts and khaki trousers stormed the La Bawaleshie Primary School polling station where voting was ongoing to elect a new MP following the death of Kyeremanten Agyarko.
