Angry heads and elders of Asante Agona Asenie royal family have petitioned the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to restrain the Agonahene, Nana Ankoye Frimpong Ababio from leasing a landed property belonging to the Okomfo Anokye Amoampong Stool of Agona.
The petitioners included reps from the Yaa Awe House, Krabi House, Akyere House, Anokye Kwasi House, Afia Nsia House and Biani House constituting the royal family.
Abusuapanin Nana Kwaku Dua (Krabi), Abusuapanin Nana Kwabena Adu ( Akyere), Abusuapanin Nana Akwasi Awua (Yaa Awe), Abusuapanin Nana Akwasi Amoateng, (Afia Nsia) Abusuapanin Nana Yaw Oppong (Biani) and Opanin Bafour Senkyire (Krabi).
Others are Opanin Yaw Oti Boateng (Krabi), Opanin Kwame Sarfo (Akyere),
Aseniehene, Nana Adonteng Boateng of Wiamoase, Opanin Asenso Kwabena (Anokye Kwasi) and Opanin Agyei Mensah Manase (Anokye Kwasi).
In a petition to His Royal Majesty the Ashanti King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, they averred that a landed property located on plot No OTB. 105 at Adum in Kumasi belonging to the Okomfo Anokye Amoampong Stool and held in trust by Nana Anokye Frempong Ababio the occupant of the Stool for Agonaman had been given out on lease to one Dr. Kwaku Frempong, a private businessman for 49 years without recourse to Agonaman.
They complained that as heads and elders of Asante-Agona Royal Asenie family and citizens of the town they wrote to the Traditional Council as a duty for clarification on the issue in an effort to stop the sale of any property belonging to Agonaman.
According to the complainants, the concern was raised with the President of the Agona Traditional Council and all members of the Council in writing and that after a month of no response, a reminder which was copied to the Ashanti Regional Representative on the Council of State, Nana Owusu Achaw Brempong, Akrofosohene and a member of the Traditional Council, the Member of Parliament, the District Chief Executive, the District Security Committee, and the District Police Commander was subsequently issued.
They contended that in spite of these conciliatory moves, no response had been received.
However, the aggrieved heads and elders of the royal family have indicated that a search at the Lands Commission has revealed that the said property had been registered in the name of the private businessman, Dr. Kwaku Frempong.
It is in view of this breach of trust that the petitioners are seeking the intervention of the Asantehene to prevent the transfer of the property to Dr. Kwaku Frempong and apply the necessary sanctions against Nana Anokye Frempong Ababio.
