Head of Breast Care International (BCI) and Cancer treatment specialist, Dr Mrs Beatrice Wiafe Addai has admonished women in the country to take particular care about their breasts.

This, she noted is an important issue since the scourge of the disease is real and a threat to the survival of women in the world especially on the African Continent.

In Ghana, Dr Addai mentioned that 70% of female attendances at the hospitals and clinics are related to cancer issues.

Speaking last Sunday at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Nyinahini, a community within the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region during an outreach program by BCI which was sponsored by Delta Airlines, the cancer surgeon urged women including school girls to take particular care about their breasts at all times.

ADVICE:
Dr Wiafe Addai advised the women and students gathered at the venue to undertake simple checks on their breasts daily.

This, she noted will enable them to report any unusual happenings they find when carrying out such simple tests.

According to her, cancers are treatable and curable when it is reported to the hospital or treatment centers on time.

She asked that women also report other communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension to the hospital on time since there are several treatments available for its management and cure.

COMMENDATION:
Speaking at the event later, Rev George Bekoe Appiakorang, on behalf of the Presbyterian Church and the women gathered at the venue thanked Dr Wiafe Addai for extending her advocacy to their community.

He particularly commended the BCI leader for carrying out tests on the women in the Nyinahini community for free.

These tests, he mentioned may never have been done by some of the female folk in the community but for the gesture of BCI and Peace and Love Hospitals, all initiatives of Dr Mrs Addai.

Rev Appiakorang urged the women to take issues about their health serious and tasked them to perform simple tests on their breasts so as to ensure the home is safe since women are home managers.
