Ghana’s President; Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has apologized to Persons with Disability.

The President is reported in sections of the media to have said at the New Patriotic Party’s final rally ahead of the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency by-election that, “We came to fix Ghana, and in these two years, it is only those who are blind or deaf who are not aware that indeed we have done something.”

The Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations (GFD)-Ashanti took the President on in a press statement demanding a retraction and apology from the President for his distasteful comments which they insist was not his first time using such remarks.

The President has however taken to his Facebook page to render an apology to PWD. He explained that his expression was not intended to slight persons with disabilities but was used as a political metaphor.

He also explained that his government is one that cares for PWDs and cited some interventions his government has put in place to benefit PWDs.
