Ghanaians resident in China are calling on the government of Ghana to help them return home. They say they are still suffering great maltreatment and abuse from the Chinese; a situation they envisage could only get worse.

Some Ghanaians interviewed by Bernard Buachi of ghanagong.com expressed their strong desire to return even if it means paying their own airfares and undergoing any length of quarantine period that may be set to ensure that they are disease-free.

They confirmed that viral videos showing Blacks being kicked out onto the streets were all true and the abuse continues unabated. “Everything shown in those trending videos were real and continue to happen. Ghanaians I know are still being evicted from their home unjustly. The Chinese officials lie about the fact that they are controlling the situation. Nothing is under control here. The people just change the overt nature of their abuse after the issue went viral” they told ghanagong.com.

ghanagong.com’s probe further revealed that Chinese nationals in Guangdong, a coastal province of southeast China, are still abusing and evicting blacks, just covertly this time. “We’ve been staying home for more than four months doing nothing but paying rent and others are being evicted daily. Our people just want an opportunity to leave the place. People are really suffering and do not mind if you even quarantine them for 2 months” some Ghanaians appealed anonymously to ghanagong.com’s Bernard Buachi.

Black folk suffering these sadistic treatment say their colleagues in other parts of China are on edge. They explain that the Chinese copy each other’ behavior and hence with a little trigger of fake news, other Chinese elsewhere in the country will start copycat behaviors.

They emphasize that Africans in China suffer untold racism and discrimination. “In their culture, anything black is not good. They travel all over the world with same mindset yet our African leaders support them because of money”.

“They are racists who see all blacks as African, irrespective of where you are coming from. They are also particularly good at generating and circulating fake news. Once that is done, other people living elsewhere believe such fake news targeted at blacks and begin to attack them” they explained.

The Ghanaian community in that country is not excited about their home government’s intervention in the matter. They say “all our High Commission does is to write and hold meetings that amount to nothing”.

The various Ghanaian grouping in China have mobilized themselves and communicated adequately to the Ghanaian high commission of our desire to return to Ghana even if we have to pay our own airfares.

They encouraged Ghanaians back home to take the COVID-19 pandemic seriously and observe laid down protocols including frequent and thorough handwashing, use of hand sanitizers, social distancing, wearing of face masks, sneezing or coughing into sleeves amongst others in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
