Francis Adomako, Ashanti regional organizer for the NPP

The Ashanti Regional Organizer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Adomako has expressed utter shock at the outbursts of the former President, John Mahama who in a video was calling for NDC members to be violent.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper on Saturday, Mr Adomako said the utterances of the former president berate him as a statesman.

The NPP man said apart from the fact that Mr Mahama is seeking to contest as leader of the country again, he is now considered a statesman.

This honor, Mr Adomako noted should exude the appropriate conduct and comportment.

‘’My brother, to be frank but for me seeing the video I was not sure I was hearing right because if anybody would call for the unleashing of violence then John Mahama, a former President should be the last to be accused of same’’, the Regional organizer stressed.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Stretching the argument, Mr Adomako noted that the kind of opportunities the former President has had in life no foul word should be seen in his mouth.

According to the NPP man, apart from being an assembly member, Member of Parliament, Vice President and President, Mr Mahama is now an international figure who mediates on conflict situations.

To be seen to be endorsing violence, Mr Adomako said the former President has denigrated the image he has in the international community.

The regional organizer wondered why an isolated case in Bawaleshie out of the 137 polling stations where the recent Awawaso by-election took place could be exaggerated by the former President to make it look as if the NDC is being victimized.

‘’It betrays the confidence the good people of Ghana as well as the international community has in John Mahama for him to preach violence and associate a party that has won power through the ballot box severally as a violent entity’’, Mr Francis Adomako posited.

APOLOGY:

To repair the damage his utterances may have caused to his image, the NPP man has asked that the former President renders an unqualified apology to the people of Ghana and the international community.

This, Mr Adomako conceded may be seen as sincere since John MAHAMA in the past have not been heard pontificating violence as a tool for political power.

Mr Adomako reminded him about the infamous comment made by the President when he was the flag-bearer of the NPP and said even as a candidate Nana Addo suffered for same.

He therefore wondered why a former President having had the benefit of leading the country for six years will condone and urge the deployment of violence as a tool for the NDC to winning political power in 2020.

‘’I will urge the former President to hurriedly offer and apology for his careless comments and possibly retract same so as to repair the bad image he has gotten in the eyes of the public’’, Mr Adomako advised.
