Police in the Ashanti region have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the murder of a thirty-four year old taxi driver.

The lifeless body of Okyere Amankwaah was found in a bush near a cocoa plantation, Tuesday morning at Nintin, near the Asante Mampong Municipality, after he went missing on January 7, 2019.

Confirming the news to journalists on Wednesday, January 16, Deputy Public Relations Officer at the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ASP Godwin Ahianyo said the deceased was on board a Nissan Taxi cab with registration number AC 1205-17 when the incident occurred.

The taxi cab, Mr Ahianyo added, has since gone missing. Frantic efforts are being made to retrieve the vehicle.

The police also called on the general public to volunteer information to help arrest the perpetrators.
