The Constituency Secretary for the Asokwa Branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Papa Yaw Asare-Bediako John has rallied his counterparts at both constituency and polling station levels across the country to be prepared for the task ahead of them in the 2020 general elections.
According to him, the party would rely on the reports and activities they have carried out throughout their tenure to plot the strategy they intend carrying to ensure total victory for the NPP in 2020.
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper during an orientation session organized for polling station secretaries and electoral area coordinators at Ahensan, a suburb within the Asokwa Municipality late last year, Papa Yaw noted that secretaries are the custodians of everything that transpire at polling stations or constituencies.
The ability of NPP secretaries to give accurate and timely reports would largely influence how the party performs at that particular polling station or constituency in elections, Papa Yaw posited.
‘’ This orientation program by my outfit is just to help sharpen our brains as well as encourage us to renew our commitment to the task given to us as custodians of reports and information at polling station, electoral area or constituency offices’’, the Asokwa Secretary noted.
The Asokwa Secretary stressed the importance of staying focused as polling station executives as well as electoral area coordinators on the mandates assigned them.
This, he believes will help shape up the mindsets they have to achieving the set targets of the NPP as the party readies itself to retaining political power in 2020.
He tasked secretaries to get to know the members of the party in the various polling stations, electoral areas and constituencies so as to know how to deploy them for party activities at all times.
Papa Yaw tasked the participants to coordinate party activities at their polling stations cleverly so as to ensure everyone plays his or her part in strategizing for victory in the upcoming general elections in the country.
‘’As secretaries we are not to sit idle at the office but fish for the necessary information we may need to enhance the education of our members on all electoral matters’’, Papa Yaw intimated.
Addressing the participants later, Lawyer Adom Appiah, Deputy Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NPP called for periodic reports on the activities they carry out in their localities to the constituency office.
These pieces of information, the Deputy GS noted will then be sent to the regional and national levels so as to help the party design effective campaign strategies for elections.
Francis Adomako, Ashanti Regional Organizer of NPP rallied participants to arm themselves with the necessary education about the mandates they carry as polling station secretaries and electoral area coordinators.
According to him, the NPP can retain power convincingly in 2020 when party executives become abreast of the current trends of education on electoral matters.
